In this video I’m showing you how I built an outdoor sofa from start to finish. It’s suitable for outdoors as it’s built from weather resistant western red cedar and easily outfitted with store bought cushions. Also check out some similar chairs my friend’s built below. How To Remodel Start To Finish | Part 2 appeared first on Wilker Do's. via Wilker Do's https://wilkerdos.com/2021/10/diy-bathroom-renovation-how-to-remodel-start-to-finish-part-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=diy-bathroom-renovation-how-to-remodel-start-to-finish-part-2 A messy backyard shed gets an inexpensive DIY transformation into an at home gym shed using secondhand workout equipment and small storage solutions. This post is sponsored by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart. The home gym shed is packed with workout equipment and ready for shredding! And by shredding, I mean puttering along on my cardio bike. Robert, Mr. Marine Corps over here, is more likely to do the shredding. But I might get into some weight lifting myself now since this gym shed makes me feel so inspired!!! We managed this pool shed repurposing makeover on a super tight budget over the course if 2 weeks repurposing lumber, mixing cans of old paint, and replacing the walls with cheap faux brick panels. Over the past 10 years, Robert has collected lots of gym equipment from Facebook Marketplace and secondhand sports stores; all of which he used in our dirty, grungy garage before we had this shed idea. I added in some organizing items and a few necessities from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart, and now it feels like a tiny little health spa in our backyard! Home Gym StorageWe definitely needed some shelves for all of the smaller items in our gym like resistance bands and jump ropes, so this shelf with metal hooks worked perfectly. This industrial pipe shelf was the perfect fit for small items like our Bluetooth speaker, yoga blocks, an atomic clock, and foam roller for muscle recovery. Beside the door, I used this 3-cube shelf for holding a few hand weights, this wire basket for storing gym towels, and a mini fridge for keeping water bottles cold. (I gave the framed Theodore Roosevelt quote to Robert for his birthday last year. It fits right in that corner for a dose of motivation.) Home Gym Floor Workout AreaFor the floor, Robert found these heavy duty rubber gym mats secondhand from Facebook Marketplace that were still in great condition. You can get them as horse stall mats from your local farm supply store too. We hung up two of these huge black framed mirrors so we can check our form. I looked everywhere for mirrors this big and these Walmart ones were 3 times cheaper than anywhere else I could find them! Gym LightingOkay, this might be my favorite feature of the entire room. We had this ledge running all around the top of our faux brick walls, and we thought it would be a cool feature to place these color changing LED strip lights! The light strips even have pre-programmed light shows. They make those dark 5 a.m. workouts more fun, that’s for sure. Perfect for cranking the music and having a blast. We added in an industrial style fan with lights and retractable blades too so we can have a breeze. Later, if we feel we need one when summer comes back around, we might add a wall a/c unit. Gym Shed Cardio AreaThis cardio bike is the only new piece of gym equipment we just got, so I’ll share more about it as I get used to it. I love that we put it right at the window so I can look out into the backyard pool area as I ride. Weight Lifting AreaRobert had this squat rack crammed into our garage for years, and now this setup makes way more sense. We’ll likely add a chalkboard where he can jot down workout circuits and goals. He has a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science, so now he can really put it to use in here. Tips for Creating a Home Gym on a Budget
SourcesThese are all of the extra items we used in here from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart to complete the gym shed.
We already owned most of the other sources in here, but I’ll put together a blog post later with ways to build up to your own home gym as your budget allows over time. Robert’s exercise background isn’t something we’ve ever really shared before, but it’s something he’s so knowledgable about that maybe it could help someone else needing a budget-focused home gym resource. It’s hard to believe what the shed looked like just 2 weeks ago, right? I can’t get over how massive this change was. Now I guess with all of the pool shed stuff shoved into the garage, a garage makeover is on the list for 2022. The post At Home Gym Shed Makeover on a Budget! appeared first on Bless'er House. via Home Improvement – Bless'er House https://www.blesserhouse.com/at-home-gym-shed-makeover-on-a-budget/ How to quickly and inexpensively create a modern industrial faux brick wall in a weekend. The faux brick walls are finished in the gym shed and they are fabuuuuulooouus!!! I keep flipping back and forth between the before and after shots because I absolutely can’t get over the difference! I’d swear it was Photoshop if we hadn’t spent 2 days working on these brick walls. ![]() In case you’re wondering, all of the stuff from the old pool shed is now in our garage, and it’s an even bigger disaster now. I predict a massive purging and organizing project happening in the coming months. One step at a time… Before and After![]() Before I dive into the full nitty gritty detailed DIY faux brick wall tutorial though, this view needs a moment… ![]() It’s amazing the difference ripping out the ceiling and putting up the white brick walls made. We did the entire shed’s makeover for under $700 for all of the materials. ![]() DIY Faux Brick Wall and Shed MakeoverSupplies
ToolsStepsFor most people, this probably wouldn’t need to be a step unless you were planning on ripping down walls like we did too. We decided the old pegboard had to go… along with the ceiling and the protruding walls while we were at it. ![]() Getting there… ![]() Better… ![]() Okay, here are the REAL steps for DIY faux brick walls after all of that messy demo and reinforcing the ceiling.
![]() 2. For any areas that won’t fit a full panel, cut them with a circular saw or table saw. Pay attention to the pattern on the previous panel so that you can properly line up the brick design. Tip: You can choose to use a jigsaw to zig zag your cuts along the mortar line in the brick panel design to help hide the seams even better, though it is more time consuming. Since we plan to hang mirrors, weights, and shelves all over these walls and the walls would be painted, a visible seam here or there didn’t really concern us. But the zig zag cuts are doable if you’re willing to put in a bit of extra work. ![]() 3. As you get to obstacles like windows and outlets, use a jigsaw to cut around the tricky areas and puzzle piece the panels together. 4. To make the walls look finished, we added 1×2 boards along the top and bottom. And for the corners, we attached the corner molding strips. ![]() 5. Then, we caulked seams and spackled holes. ![]() 6. Then paint! I guess the perks of having a few cans of random leftover white paint is you can mix them together in a bucket to use on a whole new project! So we were able to basically paint this entire shed for free using mixed up paint from the waste pile. All thanks to that handy dandy paint storage closet overhaul from a few weeks ago. ![]() Paint fixes everything. I’m convinced of that. ![]() See? Magic! Finish Home Gym![]() I’m so glad we got carried away with the shed demo because this ceiling is just awesome. ![]() We’ll hang mirrors on that long wall next so we can check our form during workouts. ![]() I found this ceiling fan with retractable blades to keep air moving in here. ![]() And I’ve gotta say, this view beside the pool and pergola cabana is pretty motivating to work on that summer bod. ![]() Robert found these heavy duty rubber gym floor mats on Facebook Marketplace for a steal. After this project, our joints will really need that. ![]() So now we have a finished home gym ready for all of the home gym things! Load in happens next week! Though even without the weights and equipment, this gym has given us a solid workout already.
